To map a network drive, there are a few simple steps that save a lot of work later. The first step is to right click on your 'My Computer' icon, which can be found on your desktop or in your Start tab. When you do, you are given several choices, as shown below:
Click on 'Map Network Drive...' to bring you to the next window. The 'Map Network Drive' window allows you to choose which drive letter you wish to use. Drives already in use will not be on this list, so pick any drive you want. Make sure that the 'Reconnect at logon' option is checked. If you know the direct route to the folder holding your server version of ScanIt Parts, you can type it in the 'Folder:' textbox. If not, click on 'Browse...' to navigate to the folder.
If you click on 'Browse...', you will be taken to the next window. Your file structure will be different depending on how your network is set up, but the idea is the same regardless of how it is set up. Find the computer that your ScanIt Parts server version is on and select the 'ScanIt Parts' folder, then click 'OK'.
After you have chosen the location, click on 'Finish' and you will see the following window briefly.
If this window does not go away within a minute or so, there is probably a problem with the network connection. Try again, possibly with a different user name (alternate logons are available from the 'Map Network Drive' window by clicking on 'different user name'), or contact your System Administrator for help.
Once the network drive is mapped, it should be visible and accessible in the 'My Computer' directory.
