Battery Charge Issues
Many parts managers run into problems with batteries. These can cause display problems, incomplete or no printing, random stopping of the scanner, and many other issues that can slow down your inventory process. There are several key things for you to keep an eye on, as the parts manager, that will save a lot of time and resources in the long run.

The first thing to watch for and reinforce with your employees is to make sure to always push the battery down fully into the charger. They will hear an audible sound as it snaps into place. This will require them to actually push down on the battery, though, and not just set it in there and walk away.

When they insert the battery into the charger, the 'Charging' light on the left should blink orange several times, and then turn solid orange. When the light on the right starts flashing, the battery is useable, but is not fully charged, so it will not last as long. Once this light turns solid, the battery is fully charged and should last for approximately 2 hours of heavy scanning.

When switching batteries, ensure that the charging light turns off before putting the next battery in the charger. If you do not wait, the charger may not read the battery correctly and give it a 'false' charge. Once the 'Charging' light turns off, you can then put the used battery in the charger.

Obviously, the middle 'Power' light should always be on when charging batteries.

Whenever you put a new battery into the scanner unit and power it on, it is always a good idea to check the battery level. You can do this by pressing the 'Space' button on the bottom left of the control pad. This button has a triangle on it, and shows the current and minimum battery level. This is just an estimate of the battery level, but a fully charged battery should have a charge somewhere between 920-940.

Lastly, batteries should be taken out of the scanner unit at the end of the day and put into the charger so that they will have a full charge for the next day's scanning.
